Dressy black suits are invading tuxedo territory.
You’ve seen them on the awards shows. Our dressiest black
suits are from Oleg Cassini, Jones New York and Hugo Boss.
Purists may be offended, but fashionistas will applaud! We
recommend completing the look with a no pleat wingtip formal
shirt and a solid black or grey silk tie and handkerchief set.
The Suit: This is a light to year-round weight suit. The cloth
is a super-100’s hi-twist. This means the yarns are twisted
very tightly at the time it’s woven. The provides some tension
woven in the suit and it will bounce back from being wrinkled
easier and faster than a typical wool suit. It is a 3-button,
no vent, flap pocket, pleated pant style. The jacket is fully
lined with 2 interior breast pockets and 1 lower phone pocket.
The slacks are lined to the knee. Slack size is 6” less than
the chest size (42 jacket comes with a 36 waist pant). Slack
has 2” of extra fabric for a tailor to let out if needed. |
This is a nice black suit and the price
is very right. That said, the Jones New York suit is a
richer, more elegant black and is worth a look.
The History:
I was walking through all the exhibits at the clothing show
in Las Vegas, when a sales rep cornered me and gave me a
challenge – "If you can find a better value
in the thousands of exhibitors here, not only will
I buy you lunch, but I won’t bother you for the next 6 months".
Since this guy calls weekly with the "deal of
a lifetime",
and I already had found fantastic opportunities, I
gladly took him up on the challenge. He showed me 7
different pure wool suits from Oleg Cassini. I was
impressed – really impressed. Indeed, I had to agree
with him, these suits were a fantastic value. The fit
and balance was right on target. The shoulders were
clean and neat. The patterns were sharp. And the price
was, shall we say, aggressive. Department stores sell
these suits for $275. We can offer you a suit for $169.99!
This is a Royal Flush, Blackjack and 3 Bars all rolled
into one! The sales rep won, and best of all so do
you and I. |
